This original image was shot by Nicky Lowe, taken at Rakino Island, an island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand, this flax is native to Aotearoa, it is a mixed media artwork, combining a photo image with acrylic paint and texture painted over. Hand painted by the artist.

It shows the amazing shapes that are formed by these beautiful flaxes, and the depth and contrasts of colour, that change throughout the seasons.
